Dominion NO. 10: Violations and Penalties

Section I—Out-of-Bounds

  1. A player shall not be the last to affect the brawl before it goes out-of-bounds.
    1. Punishment: Loss of brawl. The brawl is awarded to the opposing squad at the boundary line nearest the spot of the violation.
    2. EXCEPTION: On a throw-in which goes out of bounds and is not touched by a player in the game, the ball is returned to the original throw-in spot.

Section Ii—Dribble

  1. A player shall not run with the brawl without dribbling it.
  2. A role player in control of a distill who steps on or outside a boundary line, fifty-fifty though non touching the ball while on or outside that boundary line, shall not exist immune to return inbounds and continue his dribble. He may not fifty-fifty be the first actor to touch the brawl afterward he has re-established a position inbounds.

A thrower-in shall non (ane) carry the ball onto the court; (ii) fail to release the ball inside 5 seconds; (3) touch on it on the court before it has touched some other player; (4) leave the designated throw-in spot which is ane step to his left or right; (five) throw the ball so that it enters the basket earlier touching anyone on the courtroom; (six) step on the court over the boundary line before the ball is released; (7) throw the ball out-of-premises without information technology being touched by a histrion in the game; (8) get out the playing surface to gain an advantage on a throw-in; (9) paw the brawl to a actor on the court.

      2. If the violation is past the defense while the ball is in play, the offensive squad retains possession of the brawl on the sideline nearest the spot of the violation only no nearer the baseline than the foul line extended.
      3. If the violation occurs during a throw-in, the opposing team retains possession at the spot of the original throw-in with all privileges, if any,

Section 5—Spring Ball

  1. A player shall not violate the leap brawl rule (Rule 6—Section Vii).
  2. During a jump ball, a personal foul committed prior to either team obtaining possession, shall be ruled a "loose brawl" foul.
    1. If the violation or foul occurs prior to the ball beingness legally tapped, neither the game clock or shot clock shall be started.
    2. Punishment:
      1. In (a) in a higher place, the ball is awarded to the opposing team on the sideline nearest the spot of the violation.
      2. In (a) to a higher place, if in that location is a violation by each team, or if the official makes a bad toss, the toss shall be repeated with the same jumpers.
      3. In (b) in a higher place, gratis throws may or may non be awarded, consistent with whether the penalty is in effect (Rule 12B—Section VIII).

Section Six—Offensive Iii-Second Rule

Section Vii—Defensive Three-2d Dominion

  1. The count starts when the offensive squad is in control of the ball in the frontcourt.
  2. Any defensive actor, who is positioned in the 16-human foot lane or the area extending 4 anxiety past the lane endline, must be actively guarding an opponent within iii seconds.  Actively guarding ways being within arm'southward length of an offensive player and in a guarding position.
  3. Whatever defensive role player may play whatsoever offensive histrion. The defenders may double-team any actor.
  4. The defensive three-second count is suspended when: (ane) a player is in the deed of shooting, (2) there is a loss of team control, (iii) the defender is actively guarding an opponent, (4) the defender completely clears the sixteen-foot lane or (5) it is imminent the defender will get legal.
  5. If the defender is guarding the player with the ball, he may exist located in the 16-foot lane. This defender is not required to exist in an actively guarding/arms distance position. If another defender actively guards the actor with the ball, the original defender must actively guard an opponent or exit the xvi-foot lane. Section 9—Ball in Backcourt

    3. A player who comes to a end on step one when both feet are on the floor or touch the floor simultaneously may pivot using either foot as his pin. If he jumps with both feet he must release the ball earlier either foot touches the floor.
