Hardcover. Status: Very Good. Hardcover. Includes "A Valentine" on page 173 of Volume 4 and "The Bells" on page 304 of Book 5. Too contains a review of Rufus Griswold'south "Female person Poets of America," on page 415. This is the first printing of "The Bells"; however, "A Valentine" was originally printed in the Evening Mirror in 1846 under the title "To Her Whose Name is Written Below." Both volumes are bound together in three-quarter dark green leather with brown and black marbled newspaper covered boards, titled in gilt on the spine. There are four raised bands ruled in aureate to the spine. There is a iii inch carve up to the head of the front end joint and it appears that the binding has been repaired (amateurly) at some bespeak. Both interior hinges are croaky; even so, the boards and textblock remain firmly attached. Rubbing to boards with a few small open up tears to the marbled newspaper on the rear cover. Wear to edges of the boards and corners. Spots of foxing and soiling to interior. Both volumes include numerous total page engravings, some colored. The indexes for both volumes appear at the end of the book. Attractive despite the noted wear. Volume 4 has 416 pages; Volume 5 has 389 pages. PER/011118.
